(Copied from my collabinator post)

Hi all! I'm open for commissions again! Here's the base page with examples:

iu_649244_5014332.webp

I'm always open to questions, and DM me if interested! I'm currently doing 5 open slots at the moment.

Other Examples:

-Icons:

-Normal Illustration:

-Complex Illustration:

Other Notes & Terms:

-PLEASE give me good references, character design is another branch of my work I can do, but please DM me about a ref sheet and or illustration if that's what you're looking for.

-I take Paypal, but can also send you invoices through Square (etc.... we'll work it out)

-The prices for the normal and complex illustrations are the base price for said complexities and additional request (like more fully detailed characters) may add onto the price, HOWEVER, these prices include pretty much standard and give you a good amount of illustration choices :)

Now for a bit of extra stuff BESIDES the collabinator one;

For specialty commissions you do have to DM me for more information and a quote since some stuff has certain material costs and requirements. (As an example, for plushes, I have to take into consideration fabric types and amount + details)

Specialty commissions are basically just the random stuff I don't usually mention, SO, here's a small list:

=Jewelry (from basic bracelets to necklaces)

-Physical acrylic paintings (Usually slightly more expensive than digital depending on size and detail)

-Wire statues

-Lamps like this one

-Plushies

And yeah, for specially commissions those aren't usually as public since it's just kind of there, and some are a bit expensive due to materials (no kidding), Otherwise, that's it and DM me if you're interested in anything.

Thank you all again!

(Fair warning, this is a stream of thoughts from redesigning Escoco. Escoco is from Project Tiyaka, an old project of mine that I've entertained new ideas with. Escoco is a humanoid dragon, crazy right...?!?! I do talk in depth about anatomy and guts, so fair warning. If you're wondering what I'm up to rn though, my Twitter is mostly up to date at the moment. Otherwise...)

...So what about the wings? The main thing is that they would need to generate lift. but how would they connect to the back? The trapezius mainly connects the shoulders to the spine to lift them up right? So what if the deltoid for the set of wings was in the muscle layer right under the trapezius? That would interfere with the other muscles a bit would it? Having a purely muscular connection for the wings on to the torso would cause a lot of strain wouldn't it? So what if we were to thicken parts of the skeletal structure? Ok, if we do the ribs, that causes a lot of strain. If we find some way to connect directly to the bones that make up the spinal column, that would cause a lot of pressure on the spine, causing higher risks of herniated discs if there isn't compensation. And since the wings I would say... weigh 20 to 30 lb... even with hollow bones. the spinal column would need a good amount of compensation in the ligaments that cushion the spinal column. Ok, so we have a wider spinal column. This may make it harder for the character to most their torso, but that's ok. Most of the movement they need is in their neck, arms and wings.

Their legs would also need to carry the weight. so thicker bones, larger footprint (literally). And some sort of way to compensate for the fact their COM is moved backwards. Wait... is that why most dragon characters are drawn with those bent legs? I think that would be helpful to change the location of the COM over the feet and since they have a tail, it would help to increase their footprint area and stabilize them if it was on the ground a good portion of the time. Ok cool, we have weight distribution down.

What about the lift that wings create? We have two animals that have different flying styles. Bats and birds. Birds have good lift with their wings. Better than bats right...? (after a bit of googling) Ok, nevermind, bats have better control over their wings and have more senses on their wings so they can do better acrobatics. However, to keep the idea of an airfoil for Escoco's wings, having the bones slightly curved, mostly in the front and then straightening out in the back, would help give him more lift during flight. This would also reduce the amount of energy that is needed to actively fly, with most of the force going into keeping the wings static. So bat like wings are kind of better in this case for Escoco, more control and shaped an airfoil so that having his wings static is the only energy he needs to expend.

This makes me highly concerned about circulation. If the wings have similar artery sizes at the beginning similar to the femoral artery, it should be mostly fine, but since the lower ends of the wings would have low circulation, they might need to be mostly some kind of collagen and bone. It still with be innervated and have veins, but less. Escoco's heart would have to be bigger so that he could supply enough oxygenated blood to his wings. His lungs would also have to be bigger for lower pressure, I have a feeling that a limitation would be that Escoco can't climb or fly to mountains higher that humans can due to needing extra oxygen for the extra limbs and being at a high altitude. So Escoco would either have larger lungs, or more effective alveoli, which is near impossible as the human lung is quite efficient with maximization of surface area. So larger lungs, or just diver's lungs.

I think that's about it, without the obvious, being a large creature, Escoco would need a lot of energy consumption to keep up with the demand of extra muscles and use of said muscles.

This all said will be reflected depending on the weather that Escoco is in as it would limit certain functions in certain weather and resource conditions.

Ok, cheers for now!

Boy have I been busy with school etc. So sorry you all haven't seen much of me since Tankmas is December!

Thank you all for 700+ fans though. <3

To keep the conversation going, how are you guys?

Heya Everyone!

Thank you so much for over 500 fans here on NG! Sorry I'm a bit late to the party (about a month late, that's pretty normal for me). I'm really happy to see a whole bunch of new faces here on NG. So whether you've been here for a decade or just a day, Welcome to Newgrounds!

Anyway, I've started a Patreon page recently and have been posting longer updates on there! So if you want to support my work through that that would be greatly appreciated. I'm not cutting out any of the usual large updates I do here on NG or any of the mini updates on my Twitter, it's more of detailed updates or things I usually wouldn't want to show because I didn't want to tease it and it drags on (I go through spaces where things get set up, don't get worked on, and then get bulldozed through). I'll update there weekly as much as I can, and if something big happens I'll update on there too.

Otherwise, thank you guys so much for everything here on NG so far!

Cheers,

-TheDyingSun | I

Happy Pico Day Everyone!

I wanted to do a little write up on the drawing, so here we go:

Last year after Pico Day, I thought of a group setting where Captain was serving a cast of NG characters. I thought it would be hilariously cursed to draw him.

Come this week, I started the thumbnails and the perspective each time was awful.... which leads up to this morning where I woke up an without my contacts in drew the thumbnail for the drawing. It was EXACTLY what I wanted, but... I was not capable of my normal set up, so I had to wait until arriving back this afternoon.... and performing my usual marathon to finish it. 😅

But yeah, Thursday night I had a full on sketch that was about to go into final render... which was scrapped. But hey, thought it would be fun to mention how the piece was processed.

Included in the drawing is:

  • ACOCK (A couple of crickets)
  • Chutney Glaze (Holding a phone with the Flower doctor on it, late last year I had made a "Date with Chutney" drawing and it went downhill FAST)
  • Gentles
  • That girl from JoelG's Deadline
  • GF from FNF
  • Tankmen (Steve and Captain, Steve finally getting his pink birthday cake. I keep adding this in because it happened in 2018, anyway)
  • Psycho Goldfish and VoicesByCorey (Both part of the NewGrounds Podcast)
  • Duncan and Jones
  • Henry Stickmin

I wanted to focus a tad more on what Pico Day meant to me this year, and while a lot of that got lost in translation from the original version, the Inclusion of ACOCK, PsychoGoldfish, VoicesByCorey, and myself with ChutneyGlaze (for those who know about Richard, don't say a WORD). But yeah, I've been kind of missing being able to hang out with my NG team. School is ending for the year soon, and I've been getting WAY faster, but that's because of, well... less time. It's been an interesting year, and I'm still in a tad of a sticky web, but we'll see how that goes through.

Otherwise...

To celebrate besides the drawing, I chilled with a friend and introduced them to Friday Night Funkin and Chutney Glaze, to which we are currently watching the latter.

Even with the stress of the drawing, I'm happy I completely scrapped it and redid it.

True to my name,

Happy Pico Day

Hi everyone, I know it's been a while so I guess it's best to do an update.

I've still been pretty busy with school and while a good portion of it is over for the semester, I'm still working through everything. I don't have many updates with much of my projects, and I don't like to keep teasing at things knowing that it might be delayed/dropped due to time.

Art

Because it was more spatially reasonable, I picked up making crochet plushes, or at least have started to when I have time. It's been a good way to spend my free time and it's kind of fun to have tiny plushes around. I am currently in an art class as well and we've started to work more with vector illustration and cutting things out on the laser cutter on campus.

Illustration

I haven't gotten much of a chance to really sit down and draw recently. So I don't know if I'll have a drawing done for this month or not. If I do, I bet you it will be posted at some crazy time of night, like 11 PM or something.

Robotics

Classes are going well, electronics was fun :)

Otherwise...

This is just a quick check in. I'm still technically on a hiatus due to school, but always feel free to DM me on here or on Discord (if you share a server with me).

I also think it's almost surreal how big FNF is getting. The other day I saw someone on a school discord with a "M.I.L.F. is the best song from FNF" as their discord status. I've always seen NG as this one thing that very few people know about yet I remain a part of. Kind of like a serious joke in a way? Otherwise, I'd say I don't really have a favorite song from FNF, Isaac makes all of the songs have an amazing bounce! Though, for mods, gotta say "Lo-Fight" is a favorite.

Oh yeah, and this is a little Orca I crotched recently

Cheers!

(EDIT: Sorry for my silence as per replies, I haven't been wanting to talk much, I'll be back in a week or so)

Introduction

Good Morning/Evening Everyone. 2021 is in full swing all over the world! Let's make the best of it. This year has been interesting to say the least on my end. But before we dive in deep...

Plugs

*Cough*

Support my work on

Twitter | Instagram | Etsy

(P.S. I update my Twitter and Instagram differently and at different intervals.)

What Good Stuff Happened in 2020?

-Before the Pandemic

Before the Pandemic, I was set up for a lot. I was doing well in class and I started to branch more into leatherworking.

-During the Pandemic (Which is still going on)

I was able to finish off classes strong, and I got commissioned to do some plush stuff. I celebrated my 6th year of art, and was one of the top submissions for Pico Day! I went off to school, did well, and finished commissions and still got to meet some awesome people while I was there.

-Now

If you've been living under a rock, or just joined NG (which if it's the case, welcome!), I was able to help out with the Tankmas ADVENTure for the third year in a row! Thank you @GeoKureli, @BrandyBuizel, @NickConter, and all the artists in the collab for making this year's collab spectacular! @Snackers Duncan and Jones premiere was banging, and @Butzbo's music box is so much fun to play with (with music by @ConnorGrail)!

I've recently gotten a job to help build up a few things for this year and I'm trying to upgrade my home base so to speak. It's becoming a bit more cozy, instead of being a storm-hit room, since I was always running place to place beforehand.

Reflections & Other Stuff

-Art Stuff

Back in 2018, I mentioned that I wanted to add more expression to my characters and make my drawings more lively, and looking back over the past two years, I believe I've been moving closer towards that. I've been drawing more faces, human or not, and doing more grand backgrounds and scenes! I'm so happy to see all the color and shading developing over the years alongside with my anatomy ability growing.

I still need to unwind when I draw, I always try to be a tad of a perfectionist... and that doesn't work out well. I've still going to move towards multi-characters drawings with more scenes. My mind is sort of drawing blanks at the moment, but I still have some ideas in the holding.

And if you haven't checked it out yet:

-Whoops

2020 overall was ok, while I'm writing this, it just feels like everything hopefully stays in 2020, but I know it won't. The pandemic of course will still be here, it's just weird having this feeling of having a whole new year to work with. My birthday is in 14 days and it's kind of hard for me to think of where I was last year. I hate to be so blunt, but I think about all the things that I lost over the year, friends, family, and a sense that things were going well. It's been kind of empty over here, with lots of confusion as to what will happen next. Quite frankly put, I'm scared. There are loose ends that need to be tied up still, and a lot I can't wrap up nicely into a year. My home base isn't so much home for me and it more is just a base. It's a small room, and Pascal and Perl are good company, but it makes me worry about what's outside of my base. I'm working on it, but as I said earlier, this isn't something that can be wrapped up nicely in a year, and I'm looking for solutions.

Plans for the New Year

-Being Imperfect

As some of you may know, I released a song during this week called "Mountain". I really enjoyed just releasing it as music is a part of me that exists but hasn't been worked on for a while. So it was kind of thrilling to release this imperfect song just to start learning where to get better! Thank you @GoodL for the critique. This year I really need to relax and learn that I'm not going to be professional grade with music, or especially animation, anytime soon. Same with programming and everything else I'm working on. I want to have a chance to get better, and that's always what keeps me sharp. Hopefully, out of that more of everything will start to develop, and it might not be the best, but hey, at least it's something.

-Telebuddies

That brings me to the Telebuddies. I want to release two episodes this year, and building off from earlier, the episodes are not going to be perfect. During the summer last year, I decided to completely cut the pilot because it didn't fit the story anymore, I didn't like it, and I was still missing the voice actor for Lily... I don't want to voice act her... @GabbyXDAnimations and I were supposed in April but... Covid...

Anyway, Lily and Cory won't show up for a while so you'll hear the buttery voices of @dogl and @SwordGrayFire. Now who's going to be who has been a continuous argument.

I plan to finish the storyboard for the EP. 1 before my birthday and the entire animation before the middle of the Spring Semester. (Feel free to spam me about this)

-Store Etc

I didn't announce it because it didn't happen... but my first artist alley table was going to be in 2020. I've moved most of the poster I have to Etsy for now. I'm planning on doing plushies to put up there soon. I currently have some prints up there of a few drawings, and I may expand the prints that are available.

I did some plush commissions over the year, and and working on one for @ChutneyGlaze right now! Well, not really, it's for fun, but depending on what happens they may become a thing.

I'm still planning to do some events while I'm back at college though, and I'll announce them here is there happen.

-Music

I'm looking to collab this year with a few musicians. I'm not sure if I'm the best singer, but I think doing some lyrical based music alongside more personal instrumental would be cool. I used to play flute, and I have a half dozen of random instruments, including a kalimba I got for Christmas. Everything is being hashed out atm.

-Games

Since I'm taking Computer Science as one of my majors, I want to use what I know a bit more and apply it to HaxelFlixel video games! Nothing too complex, but I have a simple puzzle/exploration game idea in mind.

Ultimate Goals for the Year

I have sort of a list here, from everything I mentioned in the previous sections I want to:

  • Program at least one game in HaxeFlixel and release it on NG
  • Finish Episode 1 and 2 of the Telebuddies
  • Make some music with the bros
  • Make mistakes and learn
  • Find my family

Moving Towards Pixel Day

As pertaining to last few years. Pixel Day is always when I release my first drawing of the year. I kind of want to change that because 23 days is a long time and I might be packing to head back to school by then. So soon you should see something to start 2021 a bit early.

For fun, feel free to compare this post to last year's.

I have a couple questions for ya'll as well. I've been thinking about Ko-fi and Patreon again, mainly to help with school and business stuff. What do ya'll think?

So I'm excited to have given this piece a bit of TLC.

I didn't quite like the final result due to some glaring errors, and I wanted to edit it so it would be something that I would be happy hanging on my wall.

Otherwise, here's the updated version!

Otherwise, this among a few other designs are up on Redbubble. So check that out!

Here's the original for comparison.

Otherwise, cheers!

Good Morning / Evening!

I've been busy with school, so I'll keep this short.

Art

I'm still going to try to finish all of Huevember lite. I haven't gotten much time recently otherwise. (Oh yeah, and I'm revamping the Robot Day 2020 drawing because I had to rush at the end =.=. This will be shown in a future newspost)

Illustration

I have a Redbubble now! Feel free to message me if there's something that's not in there you want to see added.

Robotics

School is going well, and even with rising cases, things are still pretty standard.

Best,

-TheDyingSun

Feel free to DM hugs
